The law states anyone wishing to sell or authorise the sale of alcohol must hold a ‘Personal Licence’ which is issued by their local authority. It is a requirement that anyone requiring this must have gained an Award for Personal Licence Holders qualification (APLH) before applying to sell alcohol.
Therefore any candidate must pass the APLH course before applying for their Personal Licence.
Personal Licence (APLH) Syllabus Fully Covered
This personal licence course (APLH) covers the syllabus set by Government to enable candidates to obtain their personal licence and also understand the law in relation to:
1.The roles, responsibilities and functions of licensing authorities within the framework of the licensing objectives
2.The application process for a personal licence, the role and legal responsibilities of the personal licence holder, and the penalties relating to failure to comply with the law the premises licence
3.The content and purpose of operating schedules the role and duties of the designated premises supervisor (DPS)
4.Unauthorised licensable activities
5.Permitted temporary licensable activities
6.Rghts of entry to licensed premises
7.Police powers with regard to suspension and closure of licensed premises
8.The specific prohibitions for the sale of alcohol
9.The strengths of alcoholic drinks, and the effects of alcohol on the human body
10.The protection of children from harm
11.The responsible retail sale of alcohol
Personal Licence Qualification Accredited
This personal licence qualification is both QCA accredited and Government approved, and has been specifically designed to meet the statutory requirements of the Licensing Act 2003.
The Personal Licence Course includes the cost of taking the examination for the Personal Licence qualification by way of a short 40 question multiple-choice examination carried out at the end of the day. You will be provided with a comprehensive Personal Licence handbook, presented in an easy-to-follow format, supports the qualification and covers all the information needed for the examination.

How to make a Personal Licence Application
We will take your APLH Qualification and make a Personal Licence Application to your local licensing authority. Requirements vary but usually, you will need to include a criminal record check (DBS Certificate), Personal Licence Holders’ Certificate, proof of right to work in the UK, two passport photos (certified) and the correct supporting documentation.
