Fundamentals of distilling

This 5 day Distilling Course takes you through the fundamentals of distilling giving you a thorough understanding of the commercial distilling processes and is taught to the Syllabus of the Brewing & Distilling (IBD) Foundations in Distilling Course.  This is an internationally recognised distilling qualification and will help with your credibility with lenders and backers should you look to fund your distilling venture. This distilling course will look at a distilling a variety of craft spirits including : gin, rum, vodka and whiskey and will look at the practicalities of commercial production together with preparing you to take the examination should you wish to gain the qualification.

How to start a distillery

In addition to the 4 day Distilling Fundamentals Course you will also on the 5th day look at the critical elements of commercial craft spirits production and setting up your own distilling business.

The 5 day distilling course is a perfect introduction to commercial distilling production and also how these are translated into a successful craft distilling business.  The lead tutor of the course Jamie Baxter has designed and built over 15% of the craft distilleries in the Uk over the last 5 years and will be able to guide you through the practicalities of setup of your distillery.

Where is the distilling course?

The course will take place at Hartingtons School of Food in Bakewell but will include visits to several local distilleries as outlined above.

If you are looking at retailing alcohol you will need a Personal Licence so have a look at the Personal Licence Course which is an essential part of alcohol licensing and personal licences.
